I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter of April 1905, No. 13010/1905, enclosing a copy

of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject

of the cultivation of virus for the destruction of rats.

2. As requested, we referred to the Director of the

Pasteur Institute and I enclose copies of two letters which
